Death and Dying happens to us all.
With Floris Tomasini, philosopher, therapist and prison chaplain, I host Death Cafes around South Cumbria, near where I live. These are open sessions of two hours for people to come and talk about anything they want to do with deathand dying. We provide tea, coffee, and cake and aim to keep the conversation inclusive and informal. All are welcome.
We also run At the Threshold conversations for groups of six to eight people.
These are two connected sessions to focus on anticipating death and how your story might continue. They are safe, nourishing and reflective spaces to consider the transformations that come with our death and dying.
You don’t have to be facing an imminent death, just willing to contemplate that you are of the nature to grow old, become ill and die.
Drawing on philosophy, my training as an End of Life Doula and our combined decades of facilitation, these two sessions marry sacred and practical elements of our life’s ultimate transformation. They celebrate the creative unfolding of life, and seek to locate us in the greater ecology of our beautiful planetary home. Placing value in the role of uncertainty and collective wisdom, these sessions will encourage an expansive sense of individual potential
In the first session, we’ll explore our attitudes towards death, unpacking core values, experiences and beliefs.
In the second, the focus turns to thinking around legacy, what kind of ancestor you want to be, and End of Life planning.
